چکیده

W THEN notoedric mange is present in a large rabbit colony it becomes a serious menace unless adequate measures are taken to control it. The disease seems invariably to appear first on the nose, later spreading over the frontal region, lips, eyelids, and base of the ears. Simultaneously with the spread of lesions on the head, the lateral aspect of the hind limbs, the dorsal aspect of the fore limbs and the external genitalia are involved. In extreme cases, the skin of the abdomen is also affected.

Investigating the anti-sarcoptic mange activity (in vivo) of propolis ointment in naturally infested rabbits

Introduction: Sarcoptes scabiei (S. scabiei) var. cuniculi is the cause of sarcoptic mange in rabbits and results in considerable loss of weight, productivity, and wool quality. Objective: The efficacy of 10% Propolis (bee glue) ointment on S. scabiei var. cuniculi was evaluated under in vivo conditions in pet rabbits with sarcoptic mange lesions compared to the currently used drug, ivermectin ...

Development and validation of a fecal PCR assay for Notoedres cati and application to notoedric mange cases in bobcats (Lynx rufus) in Northern California, USA.

Notoedric mange in felids is a devastating disease caused by a hypersensitivity reaction to the mite Notoedres cati. The burrowing of the mite causes intense pruritis resulting in self-mutilation, secondary bacterial infection, and often death of affected felids if left untreated. Our understanding of how notoedric mange is maintained in felid populations, and the true geographic extent of infe...
